What is the capacity tariff in Flanders?
Since 2023, the capacity tariff has been part of the electricity bill in Flanders. Under this system, a portion of the grid charges (distribution costs) is no longer based solely on total energy consumption, but also on the amount of electricity used simultaneously — the peak power demand.
The capacity tariff is calculated based on the average of the highest 15-minute power peaks (in kW) recorded each month.FlexiO actively monitors this by discharging your battery during peak moments and charging your EV smartly to keep your month peak low. You can check your current monthly peak in the MyFlexiO app.
Can I install the FlexiObox myself?
No, the FlexiObox must be installed and configured by a certified FlexiO installer.

The installer:
- Connects the FlexiObox correctly
- Configures the connection with your inverter
- Activates your FlexiO account
- Ensures everything communicates properly

What are the different statuses of grid balancing?
There are 3 different statuses for grid balancing:

1. In evaluation
- Your system is being technically tested (up to 12 weeks)
- Meanwhile, FlexiO is already working smartly for local savings on your energy bill
- This is an automatic process

2. Stand-by
- Your system is registered for grid balancing
- Currently no active participation because local savings are worth more
- FlexiO automatically chooses what yields the most economically

3. Active
- You are currently actively participating in grid balancing
- Your battery is being controlled for grid stability
- You are currently earning income via grid balancing

You can see the current status in the MyFlexiO app under 'System status'.
What is the difference between savings and earnings?
Savings refer to the reduction on your energy bill achieved through smart buying and selling at the right moments, combined with capacity tariff monitoring. Earnings are the extra income you receive from grid balancing, which is paid out by LIFEPOWR with approximately a 3-month delay. You can view both savings and earnings in the MyFlexiO app.
FlexiObox power supply is broken - what now?
Temporary solution: Use any 5V/3A USB adapter, such as a phone charger. Permanent solution: Contact support via https://lifepowr.io/contact to request a replacement power supply under warranty (valid for 2 years). Be sure to include your shipping address.
Is my free period cumulated when switching to ePOWR tarief?
No, free periods are not cumulated. If you currently have a free subscription through another promotion. 
What is the monthly peak and how does FlexiO help?
Monthly peak = highest quarter-hour peak in a month, determines the capacity tariff. FlexiO actively monitors this: battery discharges to flatten peaks, EV charges to avoid peaks. Result: lower grid costs.
Why doesn't my battery charge to 100%?
This is normal behavior for FlexiO - your battery is intentionally not always fully charged.

Reasons:
1. Room for solar energy: FlexiO reserves capacity for expected solar production the next day
2. Battery lifespan: Keeping the battery constantly at 100% is bad for its longevity
3. Grid balancing: Part of the capacity is reserved for grid balancing services
4. Economic consideration: Charging isn't always profitable vs. degradation costs

Tip: Never judge FlexiO based on a single day or snapshot. The value lies in the long-term strategy - look at results over at least one month.

Can I use the FlexiO web app on my computer?
Yes! FlexiO is available on multiple platforms:

Web App (PC/laptop/tablet):
- Go to my.flexio.energy
- Log in with your email address and password
- All features are available

Mobile App:
- iOS: App Store
- Android: Google Play Store

Functionality:
Both versions offer the same capabilities:
- Real-time consumption and production
- History and graphs
- View savings and earnings
- Adjust profile and tariff
- Manage charging station
- Check system status

Tip: If you have problems with the app, log out and log back in to refresh the data.
Does FlexiO also work with a variable energy contract (non-dynamic)?
Yes, FlexiO works with all types of energy contracts: fixed, variable AND dynamic.

Difference in savings:
- With a variable contract, savings are possible but smaller
- With a dynamic contract, savings are significantly larger
- FlexiO can inject/withdraw power at optimal moments with dynamic tariffs

Recommendation:
To get the most out of FlexiO, switching to an ePOWR tariff. Find more info here
