How does FlexiO work with negative energy prices?
FlexiO protects you from paying for injection by applying curtailment:

What happens at negative prices:
- FlexiO limits PV production to your household consumption
- Excess energy is NOT injected
- You don't have to pay for injection

Why sometimes still injection at negative prices?
FlexiO always chooses the most economically advantageous solution:
- Grid balancing can yield more at that moment than the injection cost
- FlexiO automatically calculates if injection is net more advantageous

Important: Curtailment only works with hybrid inverters. With a battery inverter, only the battery can be controlled, not the PV production.

How long until grid balancing becomes active? (detailed)
It takes an average of 8 to 12 weeks before your FlexiObox can actively participate in grid balancing. In exceptional cases, this may take slightly longer.

Why so long?
Your system must be verified by three parties:
1. LIFEPOWR - technical verification
2. Fluvius - grid operator verification
3. Elia - qualification for participation

Important: You don't need to do anything yourself, this happens automatically. All other functions of your FlexiObox (smart control, savings) already work from activation.

Once you're ready for participation, you'll receive an email and see the status 'Active' appear in the MyFlexiO app.
What does 'approved' or 'qualified' status mean for grid balancing?
Approved/Qualified means your installation has been technically approved for grid balancing. You're placed in a waiting group:

1. LIFEPOWR assembles groups with sufficient combined capacity
2. The group is submitted to Elia for external qualification
3. After approval, active participation begins

This process takes an average of 8-12 weeks, sometimes longer due to administrative changes at Elia.

Important: Even without active grid balancing, FlexiO already works for smart control and savings on your energy bill.
Can FlexiO control my AC or air conditioning?
No, FlexiO cannot control air conditioning. This is also not on the roadmap.

FlexiO only controls:
- Home battery (via inverter)
- Charger (compatible models)
- PV production (curtailment during negative prices)

However: FlexiO considers your AC as a consumer and automatically takes this into account in its smart control. The algorithm learns your consumption pattern and adjusts the battery strategy accordingly.
When does FlexiO become active after installation?
The FlexiObox must be activated by the installer (remotely via portal). Normally within 2 days after installation. Check System status in the app - if 'being configured': contact your installer.
Where can I check or change my IBAN number?
You can check and change your IBAN number for payouts via:

1. Open the MyFlexiO app or go to my.flexio.energy
2. Go to Settings → User Profile
3. Here you'll find your IBAN which you can change

Make sure your IBAN is correct for the payout of your grid balancing income.
How do I create a FlexiO account?
To create your account:
1. Download the MyFlexiO app (available on iOS and Android)
2. Click 'Create account'
3. Enter your email address and EAN code
4. Your password for the MyFlexiO app must meet the following requirements:
Minimum requirements:
- At least 8 characters long
- At least 1 uppercase letter (A-Z)
- At least 1 lowercase letter (a-z)
- At least 1 special character (such as ?!@#)
5. Enter your IBAN for payouts
Which inverters are compatible with FlexiO?
Check the current list at http://lifepowr.io/compatibility The list is regularly expanded.
Why hasn't my battery been controlled for weeks?
During winter months, this can be normal and means FlexiO is working correctly.
FlexiO only activates your battery when it's financially worthwhile. When energy prices are too stable (mostly during certain winter months), the difference between cheap and expensive hours is too small to cover the cost of a battery cycle and energy losses.
FlexiO calculates these costs and only acts when the savings exceed it. When they don't, waiting is the smarter choice.
As soon as price differences increase again, FlexiO will automatically resume charging sessions. You don't need to do anything.

My EAN code gives error 'already in use'
This happens when the EAN is already linked to another account (e.g., by the installer or previous owner). Contact support with your EAN code — they can reset the link.
